Planned Parenthood’s War on Women Continues

By Dustin Siggins Published on October 13, 2016

On Sunday, Planned Parenthood hits 100 years old. Started by population controller and eugenicist Margaret Sanger, it has become America’s largest abortion company. It is also the nation’s top practitioner of the real War on Women.

The war is waged through convincing mothers that their children are simply things that can be disposed of, their fertility a disease to be treated. It’s waged by hiding the harm abortion does to women. It’s waged by shoving contraceptives and abortifacients at teenage girls, by aborting thousands of girls per year, and by engaging in lawbreaking that directly harms women.

Humanity of the Unborn

The scientific proof of the humanity of an unborn child is unquestionable. To quote Just Facts (disclosure: Just Facts is a client of this reporter), “human zygotes display all four empirical attributes of life.” Those attributes are “growth,” “reproduction,” “metabolism” and “response to stimuli.”

Furthermore, the science of embryology has proven that the genetic composition of humans is formed during fertilization, and as the textbook Molecular Biology explains, this genetic material is “the very basis of life itself.”

Yet groups that back abortion refuse to acknowledge these plain medical facts. Here’s Planned Parenthood employee Dian Arellano complaining about Hillary Clinton even after Clinton declared that the unborn child “doesn’t have constitutional rights.”

A former Planned Parenthood “counselor” described “The Day I Learned Aborted Fetuses Aren’t People.” “One day,” writes Amy Littlefield,

I was offered the unusual opportunity to see the fetus of a patient who had been close to 22 weeks pregnant. With some trepidation, I accepted. I looked. And in that moment, my pro-choice position crystallized. While it was shaped like a baby, what I was looking at was not a person. It was a fetus. A fetus my patient had chosen not to make into a baby. I felt no attachment to it.

Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards said in 2014 that “life began when I delivered [my children],” but said she doesn’t think the question of when life begins is “really relevant.”

Abortion Hurts Women

While the abortion industry portrays the power to kill the unborn as crucial and liberating for women, it is linked to increased rates of mental illness. In a LifeSiteNews summary:

Numerous studies have shown that [former Texas state Senator Wendy] Davis’ “deep, dark despair and grief” are common after women have abortions. For example, studies in 2006 and 2008  found links between signs of mental illness, such as increased levels of counseling, depression, and increased marijuana use, and past abortions.

A large Chinese study that examined nearly 7,000 women found that having an abortion within the prior twelve months led to a 97 percent greater chance of depression in the following pregnancy. And a 2013 meta-study done in Italy determined that there were greater chances of depression, substance abuse, and post-traumatic stress disorder for women who had an abortion compared with women who bore their children or miscarried.

There is also a strong connection between abortion and breast cancer. Yet abortion proponents won’t acknowledge any of these scientific facts, which reveal how its industry directly harms women.

Contraceptives Hurt Women

Planned Parenthood ignores the many health risks associated with contraceptives. These include, but are not limited to, breast cancer, blood clots, death, seizures and hypertension, depending on the contraceptive.

While these known side-effects of contraceptives are well-established, new evidence regularly comes out to show why women may want to avoid Planned Parenthood’s birth control propaganda. A recent example is a major study that, as reported by The Guardian, found contraceptives are linked to depression. Holly Grigg-Spall, the feminist author of Sweetening the Pill: How We Got Hooked on Hormonal Birth Control writes:

Researchers found that women taking the combined oral contraceptive were 23% more likely to be diagnosed with depression and those using progestin-only pills (also known as “the mini-pill”) were 34% more likely. Teens were at the greatest risk of depression, with an 80% increase when taking the combined pill, and that risk is two-fold with the progestin-only pill. In addition, other hormone-based methods commonly offered to women seeking an alternative to the pill – such as the hormonal IUS/coil, the patch and the ring – were shown to increase depression at a rate much higher than either kind of oral contraceptives.

A short video on the subject can be found here.

Yet even with all the evidence of the dangers, Planned Parenthood wants to teach young teens that they must master the use of contraceptives, as well as a long list of deviant sexual practices [warning, explicit content].

That’s not all. Many “contraceptives” in fact induce abortions.

Abortion Kills About 6 percent of Unborn Girls Every Year

In 2014, I estimated that Planned Parenthood killed about one in sixteen girls who would have otherwise been born that year. The same is true for 2016. Here’s the math:

  • The latest numbers from pro-choice Guttmacher Institute (which hasn’t updated its stats since 2011)  report 1.06 million abortions annually in America.
  • Since the official number of abortions reported by Guttmacher has dropped for years, let’s assume we will have a million abortions in 2016.
  • The Census Bureau projects 4.04 million births in 2016. This means that 19.8 percent of unborn children will be aborted this year.
  • About 1.05 males will be born this year for every one female. That means 48.8 percent of newborns will be female. This also means 488,000 girls will be aborted in 2016.
  • Planned Parenthood reported 323,999 abortions in its latest annual report. 48.8 percent of 323,999 is 158,112 — which is the number of girls aborted by Planned Parenthood.
  • 4.04 births plus one million abortions is 5.04 million total unborn children.
  • 48.8 percent of that number is 2.46 million.
  • 153,112 divided by 2.46 million is 6.4 percent – the percent of girls aborted by Planned Parenthood who would have otherwise been born in 2016, about one in sixteen.

Breaking the Laws that Protect Girls and Women

Another way Planned Parenthood hurts women and girls is by breaking state and federal laws that are designed to protect them from domestic and other abuse. As an example, an Alabama abortion center gave a 14-year old girl two abortions in four months in 2014, and against state law did not report it to officials.

Undercover videos from Live Action have found that several Planned Parenthood clinics have employees who are willing to engage in sex-selective abortions, while others willingly protect sex traffickers who bring in sex slaves for abortions.

Planned Parenthood’s California chapter told state legislators that it opposed a sex-selective abortion ban, although in 2012 a national spokesperson claimed that the group opposes sex-selective abortions. This is a practice that generally targets girls.

Planned Parenthood says that there’s a war on women in America. That organization should know. It’s waging it.
