IG Refers McCabe to Prosecutors, Rudy Hired to Work Things Out With Mueller

By Al Perrotta Published on April 19, 2018

Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is in hot water, and I don’t mean a Jacuzzi.

Meanwhile, America’s Mayor is now the President’s Mouthpiece. Rudy Giuliani has joined the Trump legal team. It’s been another crazy day on Washington’s Wheel of Fortune.

McCabe is in McTrouble

The Justice Department’s Inspector General Michael Horowitz has sent a criminal referral on McCabe to federal prosecutors in Washington. CNN reports he faces possible criminal charges associated with lying to internal investigators. An IG report on McCabe made public last week determined McCabe repeatedly “lacked candor” with investigators digging into leaks to the Wall Street Journal

The U.S. Attorney is now determining whether McCabe should be prosecuted. Lying to federal investigators is a crime. Just ask Martha Stewart. (Then ask that hardened felon for a nice blueberry scone recipe, for me.)

Thus far, the Justice Department, the inspector general’s office and the U.S. Attorney’s office are refusing comment.  McCabe’s spokesman did release a statement.

Translation: If he’s charged, it’s all Donald Trump’s fault.

Wheels of Justice Lining Up

The Washington Post reports the McCabe referral actually went to federal prosecutors some time ago. You’ll be seeing a lot of nail-biting around the Swamp tonight.

While Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Trump-Russia collusion was being carried out with all the drunken hoopla of Mardi Gras, Horowitz was quietly digging into the FBI/DOJ antics in the Clinton cases and the Trump probe.

I should say Horowitz and his army of 400 investigators.

A few weeks back, Attorney General Jeff Sessions revealed he had named a Utah-based U.S. Attorney John Huber to handle any criminal findings emerging from the IG investigation. What he didn’t make clear is Huber’s been on the job since last August.

Meaning, since last summer, Huber has been building cases. Meaning, McCabe is just the start. Who else did Horowitz finger? Who else did Huber already prep for prosecution? What else does the U.S. Attorney in DC have referrals on?

We’ll get some idea when the Inspector General drops more of his report in a couple weeks.

Another reason the Swamp Creatures need to be worried? McCabe promised on several occasions that if he went down he was going to bring everybody with him.

What Could That Mean?

Let’s take one quick example. What was the Wall Street Journal story McCabe leaked about anyway? The pressure the Obama DOJ put on the FBI to shut down the Clinton Foundation investigation. McCabe’s leak was about how he stood up to the DOJ. Horowitz is investigating just how far the Justice Department went to protect Hillary. If charged, how fast do you think McCabe will give up Loretta Lynch? Faster than it takes Stormy Daniels to strip for a camera.

How about James Comey? McCabe has already released a statement challenging Comey. Comey says McCabe never told him about the WSJ leaks. So far McCabe is being polite: “Neither Mr. Comey nor the OIG is infallible, and in this case neither of them has it right.” However, if charged McCabe will make Comey out to be a bigger liar or dunce than Trump could ever dream.

How about the White House? Comey’s original draft of the Hillary exoneration letter mentioned how Obama had communicated with Hillary on her private server while she was in a hostile country. Texts between McCabe pals Lisa Page and Peter Strzok suggest McCabe changed it to “senior White House official.” The reference would soon be totally eliminated. “On whose orders, Mr. McCabe? What was the plan worked out in your office to stop Trump? What was the ‘insurance policy’? What did Page mean when she said Obama wanted to know ‘everything we are doing?

And remember, Mr. McCabe. We’ve got all the texts.”

Enter Rudy Giuliani

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani has joined Trump’s legal team. Giuliani says his task is limited. He used to work with Mueller and has “great respect for Bob.” His job is “to try and get him what he needs to wrap it up.” How soon? “Maybe a couple weeks.”

He has reason to be optimistic, if Bloomberg News is correct. Bloomberg reported Thursday afternoon that Deputy Attorney General Rob Rosenstein told President Trump last week that he is not the target of any facet of Mueller’s investigation. He’s also not a target of the probe into his longtime personal lawyer Michael Cohen.

When asked about the report, James Comey gave what is quickly becoming one of his go-to answers: “I don’t know what it means.” He went on to say, “It is a fairly standard part of any investigation β€” trying to decide whether a person you’re encountering is a witness, a subject or a target.”

Where McCabe and Rudy Meet

The Rudy Giuliani and Andrew McCabe situations intersect. Buried in the IG Report on McCabe is reference to Loretta Lynch ripping the NYPD over leaks about the Eric Garner police death case and the Clinton investigation. In particular, she was upset with stories involving the NYPD’s discovery of hundreds of thousands of emails on Anthony Weiner’s computer.

This rang a bell for internet investigator Tracy Beanz. She remembered that Blackwater founder Eric Prince had been on Breitbart News days before the election with a crazy story. The NYPD had found a mess of emails implicating Hillary in assorted criminal activity on Weiner’s computer. They had been screaming at the FBI to do something. As we now know, McCabe sat on the emails for a month before informing Comey. The NYPD had threatened to go public. That is until Loretta Lynch called and threatened the NYPD, saying she would have the Civil Rights Division bring charges against an NYPD officer in the Gardner death if they said a word.

As Beanz notes in her fascinating thread, the IG report tracks with what Prince’s source had claimed. It brought Lynch, NYPD, Weiner’s laptop and Eric Gardner into one phone call.

That phone call, according to the IG report was October 26, 2016. That very same day, Rudy was all over the media, hinting some “big surprises” were about to drop.

Two days later, Comey revealed the Weiner discovery and reopened the Hillary Clinton email investigation. However, nothing beyond the cache of State Department emails was mentioned.

It’s fair to assume Rudy’s NYPD pals filled him in on what was on the computer.

If you believe this McCabe story starts and ends with leaks to the Wall Street Journal or Mueller ends with Trump tangled with Russia, you are in for a very long spring.
