Report: Murdered DNC Staffer Leaked 44,053 Emails to Wikileaks

Almost a year after DNC staffer Seth Rich was mysteriously murdered, evidence is emerging that he may have been talking to Wikileaks. An independent private investigator told Fox News that Rich sent thousands of DNC emails to the organization before his death. A federal investigator who spoke to Fox News on condition of anonymity corroborated what Wheeler said.

Rich was shot in the back and killed in D.C. last July while walking in the streets around 4 a.m. Wikileaks began posting the DNC emails on its website 12 days after his death. Since the killer took no valuables, there has been rampant speculation that he leaked the DNC’s emails to Wikileaks and was murdered as as result.

Rod Wheeler, a private investigator hired by a third party on behalf of Rich’s family, told Fox News there are emails on Rich’s laptop between Rich and now-deceased Wikileaks director Gavin MacFadyen. Rich considered MacFadyen, an American investigative reporter and documentary filmmaker, a mentor.

However, Rich’s family was not pleased that Wheeler spoke to Fox News. Brad Bauman, a spokesperson for the family, said Wheeler was not authorized to speak for the family. He said Wheeler’s claims were “unsubstantiated.” Bauman manages a crisis communications and PR firm which helps Democrats.

A Possible Police and FBI Cover-up

Wheeler believes the D.C. police and the FBI are covering up the emails. One of the two agencies has the laptop. Wheeler says he has seen the emails on it.

The former D.C. police homicide detective told Fox News,  “I do believe that the answers to who murdered Seth Rich sits on his computer on a shelf at the D.C. police or FBI headquarters.” When Fox 5 asked him if his sources have told him there is information that links Rich to Wikileaks, he said, “Absolutely. Yeah. That’s confirmed.”

A federal investigator who spoke to Fox News on condition of anonymity corroborated what Wheeler said.

The federal investigator who spoke to Fox News anonymously said he has read the email exchanges between Rich and Wikileaks. He said “44,053 emails and 17,761 attachments between Democratic National Committee leaders, spanning from January 2015 through late May 2016, were transferred from Rich to MacFadyen before May 21.”

Law enforcement has been unable to solve the murder, so the family hired Wheeler. The D.C. police insist it was a botched robbery. A source told Fox 5 that the police have no leads. Wheeler said a source within the D.C. police told him, “Rod, we were told to stand down on this case and I can’t share any information with you.” More information will be coming out on Tuesday relating to the D.C. police investigation, Wheeler said.

Wikileaks has not denied working with Rich. The organization has taken an interest in the case, offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person who killed Rich. GOP lawyer Jack Burkman is offering a separate reward of $130,000. He believes Russia is behind the murder. He has asked Congress to investigate.
