Sometimes the good guys win. Britain’s anti-shariah activist Tommy Robinson is out of prison, for now. You might have read what I wrote on May 29. That’s the day when Robinson was arrested, tried, and sentenced, all in a four-hour period. For what? At first we didn’t know. A judge muzzled the press in Britain concerning the case. I saw news stories scrubbed from the internet before my eyes. To find out what really happened, I had to install an encryption program on my phone. Only then could a British journalist feel safe tipping me off on what he’d learned. After almost a week of Britons learning this news from foreign websites, a judge lifted the reporting ban.

Robinson was arrested for “breach of the peace” (then charged, instead, with contempt of court). Why? For filming a Facebook Live video outside a courthouse. That was where yet another gang of Muslims stood trial for forming a “rape grooming gang” that preyed on British girls. Robinson stepped forth as one of the few in diversity-haunted Britain willing to highlight the fates of thousands of mostly Christian girls routinely raped and traded by young Muslim men. Meanwhile police in multiple British cities deflected complaints and turned away victims. They feared accusations of “racism.” Statements judged racist or hostile to any religion can result in prison in Britain.

Critics of Islam Can Die in Prison

Robinson had gone to jail before, on a heavy sentence for a minor procedural crime on a mortgage application. While there, he was beaten up by Islamists and continually subject to death threats. So the prospect of Robinson disappearing into a British jail and dying was a very real one. Especially in light of the fate of Kevin Crehan. As I reported in January 2017:

Kevin Crehan is dead at 35. He perished as an enemy of the British state, the victim of de facto judicial murder. Crehan was in prison for a tasteless prank: offended perhaps by the aggressive demands of immigrant Muslims in Britain for the imposition of sharia law, Crehan left a bacon sandwich on the front steps of a mosque. For that he was sentenced to one year in a prison full of violent Muslim criminals who knew about his prank, with no protective custody. (The cause of his death is still unclear.)

In a bitter twist, Julian Lambert, the judge who sentenced Crehan for his crime, in 2015 gave a sentence of only two years to a member of a pedophile rape gang that preyed on toddlers and a baby. So in 2017, that baby rapist will be a free man, while Kevin Crehan, Englishman, sleeps in the English earth.

Robinson’s friends and family relayed to supporters their genuine fear for his safety, and the new threats which he kept receiving. A worldwide #FreeTommy campaign arose, including many critics of shariah, Muslim immigration, and the multiculturalist State. I quixotically called on President Trump to offer political asylum to Robinson, and pressure British Prime Minister Teresa May to release him.

A Trump administration official did take action on Thompson’s behalf.

Sam Brownback Took Action

To my delight and surprise, a Trump administration official did take action on Robinson’s behalf. According to Reuters:

Sam Brownback, the U.S. Ambassador for International Religious Freedom, complained to the British ambassador in Washington D.C. about the treatment of an English right-wing activist who is in jail for disrupting a trial, according to three sources familiar with the discussion.

Brownback raised the case of the activist known as Tommy Robinson in a June meeting with Sir Kim Darroch, Britain’s Ambassador to the United States, according to a British official and two sources close to the organizers of a pro-Robinson demonstration planned for London on Saturday.

Brownback told Darroch that if Britain did not treat Robinson more sympathetically, the Trump administration might be compelled to criticize Britain’s handling of the case, according to the two sources in contact with organizers of the planned pro-Robinson demonstration.

The sources said Robinson’s supporters, who have also been in touch with the Trump administration about the issue, were concerned that he could be attacked by other prisoners.

Last week, the Middle East Forum, a Philadelphia group, said it was sponsoring and organizing a “Free Tommy Robinson” demonstration in London near the British Parliament on Saturday in collaboration with British and European groups.

The event was expected to merge with a demonstration in support of U.S. President Donald Trump, who appointed Brownback, according to the British newspaper The Independent.

Demonstration organizers said in a leaflet which circulated in London this week that Republican U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar and Dutch far-right leader Geert Wilders were scheduled to speak at its rally. U.S. Congressman Gosar did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

But Wilders tweeted on Thursday that he would not attend the rally because the U.K. Ambassador to the Netherlands, Peter Williams, told Dutch authorities Britain would not provide security for him.

Robinson Could Face a New Trial

Now a British court found Robinson’s quickie conviction on contempt of court deeply flawed. The Independent (quite hostile to Robinson) reported on the decision of a three-judge court of appeals. It found

that a judge in Leeds should not have jailed Robinson within hours of broadcasting the Facebook Live video in question.

“There was no clarity about what parts of the video were relied upon as amounting to contempt, what parts the appellant accepted through his counsel amounted to contempt and for what conduct he was sentenced,” their judgment read.

“Whilst the judge was entitled to deal with the contempt himself, the urgency went out of the matter when the appellant agreed to take down the video from Facebook. There should have been an adjournment to enable the particulars of contempt to be properly formulated and for a hearing at a more measured pace, as had happened in Canterbury.”

They ordered Robinson to be freed from prison on bail, on the condition that he does not go within 400m of Leeds Crown Court and attends a new contempt hearing to take place at the Old Bailey “as soon as reasonably” possible.

That judge may decide to jail Robinson for contempt for a second time.

Why They Fear Tommy

Want to know why the establishment in Britain, which can’t contain an epidemic of stabbings in London, is really after Robinson? Read his latest book. It decodes the puzzling, self-contradictory Suras of the Koran by placing them into chronological order. As I wrote here about the book:

While he was an obscure would-be religious leader living in the pagan city of Mecca, Muhammad sang one tune: “Kumbaya.” He condemned religious coercion. He called for mutual brotherhood. He flattered both Jews and Christians as “people of the book.” Each had worthy (if partial) revelations from God. Muhammad had simply come along to complete and correct them.

Later, Muhammad emigrated to greener pastures in Medina. The city welcomed him as a sage who could settle the constant feuds among Arab clans that were tearing the place apart. He soon gained power as absolute ruler of the city.

At that point, wouldn’t you know it, his revelations began to change. Now God was telling him to “slay the unbeliever.” To raid his caravans and take his cargo. Suddenly God revoked what he’d said before. He just flip-flopped on countless issues. The changes (“abrogations”) were always in the direction of giving the new military ruler of Medina permission to rape and pillage. Muhammad promised his holy warriors (jihadis) the highest place in heaven if they died in combat. Those who survived could keep most of the loot they captured (the mosque got a cut). They could keep any women they chose to take home as sex slaves after killing their infidel husbands and fathers.

It’s crucial to know which parts of the Koran were “revealed” in Mecca, and which in Medina. Why? Because for Muslims it’s fine that God contradicts himself in his “perfect, eternal book,” the Koran. The passages that are binding are those that came latest, chronologically. So the Koran works much like the U.S. Supreme Court, which can overturn its own precedents and remake the Constitution at will. But how do we know which parts came last (that is, in Medina), and are binding for Muslims? The Koran won’t tell you. It’s traditionally organized not by chronology, or even by subject matter. No, the chapters (suras) are arranged … according to word count. If those who compiled the Koran (from oral tradition) had been trying to encode its meaning, they couldn’t have done a better job.

For non-Muslims, the only real way to understand the Koran is to read it in chronological order. That’s the order in which Western editions used to present the material, until the 1940s. British patriot Tommy Robinson has produced such an edition, with commentary, which I am reading. I recommend it to everyone: Muhammed’s Koran. You owe it to yourself to get this book and study it carefully. It’s a snapshot of our future.

We should all be grateful that Robinson emerged from a heavily-Muslim British jail alive. And grateful to President Trump and Sam Brownback for taking an interest. That just may have saved Tommy’s life.
